60 terms
| Chinese | English | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 灵根 | Spirit Root | The innate channel that decides whether you can cultivate at all, and how fast. |
| 天灵根 | Heavenly Spirit Root | A one-in-ten-thousand gift. Draws qi fast enough to skip years of work. |
| 单灵根 | Single Spirit Root | One pure element. Rare, fast, and highly sought after by sects. |
| 双灵根 | Dual Spirit Root | Two elements. Slower than a single root, still good enough to be worth recruiting. |
| 五行灵根 | Five-Element Spirit Root | All five elements, none of them strong. Common, and painfully slow. |
| 杂灵根 | Mixed Spirit Root | What most people have. Barely enough to reach Foundation Establishment. |
| 废灵根 | Crippled Spirit Root | A root so weak it may as well not exist. The usual starting point of a comeback story. |
| 伪灵根 | Pseudo Spirit Root | Looks like a spirit root and is not one. Either a fake reading or a broken gift. |
| 变异灵根 | Mutated Spirit Root | A root outside the five elements: lightning, ice, wind. Rare and hard to counter. |
| 雷灵根 | Lightning Spirit Root | A mutated root. Attacks hit harder and faster than an ordinary cultivator's. |
| 冰灵根 | Ice Spirit Root | A mutated root. Slows and freezes instead of burning. |
| 资质 | Aptitude | The general word for how good someone's raw material is. What elders judge before taking a disciple. |
| 根骨 | Bone Structure | The body's physical foundation. Decides how much punishment it can take before breaking. |
| 悟性 | Comprehension | How fast someone understands what they are taught. Worth more than a good root, and rarer. |
| 先天灵体 | Innate Spirit Body | A body born already suited to cultivation. No training needed to make it work. |
| 特殊体质 | Special Constitution | A one-off body type with a rule-breaking effect. Usually the reason a character is hunted. |
| 灵根测试 | Spirit Root Test | The ceremony where a sect checks a child's root and decides whether to take them in. |
| 三灵根 | Triple Spirit Root | Three attributes instead of one. Better than mixed, worse than single, and never any master's first choice. |
| 四灵根 | Quad Spirit Root | Four attributes. Rarely produces anything except a slow, stubborn cultivator who is hard to kill. |
| 火灵根 | Fire Spirit Root | Fire affinity: fast, aggressive, and useless in water. |
| 水灵根 | Water Spirit Root | Water affinity: patient, fluid, and quietly hard to hit. |
| 木灵根 | Wood Spirit Root | Wood affinity: healing and growth. The best alchemists come from here. |
| 金灵根 | Metal Spirit Root | Metal affinity: the natural sword root, and the least forgiving temperament. |
| 土灵根 | Earth Spirit Root | Earth affinity: slow, solid, almost impossible to knock down. |
| 风灵根 | Wind Spirit Root | A mutated root prized for speed above everything else. |
| 暗灵根 | Dark Spirit Root | Dark affinity. Powerful, and enough to get a child killed on suspicion. |
| 光灵根 | Light Spirit Root | Light affinity: rare, pure, and heavily recruited by righteous sects. |
| 纯阳之体 | Pure Yang Body | Yang without a flaw. Cultivates fire arts at double speed and attracts body-snatchers at triple the rate. |
| 纯阴之体 | Pure Yin Body | Yin without a flaw. The ideal vessel for certain arts, and for certain predators. |

| 战体 | Battle Body | A body built to fight: stronger the longer a fight lasts, and unable to stop wanting one. |
| 血脉 | Bloodline | Power inherited rather than trained. Latent until something wakes it up. |
| 觉醒 | Awakening | The moment a bloodline or constitution switches on. Usually involuntary, always public. |
| 返祖 | Atavism | Blood reaching back past the human line to something older. Terrifying, and hard to control. |
| 灵根受损 | Spirit Root Damage | Half destroyed rather than whole. The injury that makes ordinary progress impossible and gives a reason to scheme. |
| 资质平平 | Ordinary Aptitude | The middle of the sect: not hopeless, not chosen. Where most stories start. |
| 天生神力 | Innate Strength | Strong before cultivation even begins. Terrifying for ten chapters, then merely useful. |
| 灵根移植 | Root Transplant | Moving a spirit root from one body to another. The donor does not survive it. |
| 灵根品质 | Root Quality | How good the roots are, usually graded from junk to heaven. The single most common stat in the genre. |
| 灵根属性 | Root Element | Which element a person leans toward. Determines what techniques they can learn without pain. |
| 五行俱全 | All Five Elements | Having every element at once. Traditionally means mediocre at all of them, until someone finds the trick. |
| 极品灵根 | Peak-Grade Root | Above heavenly, if the system bothers to grade further. Exists mostly to make a rival insufferable. |
| 灵体 | Spirit Physique | A body type that interacts with energy better than normal. The genre's upgrade over having good roots. |
| 后天灵体 | Acquired Spirit Physique | The version made by pills or by surviving something. Less prestigious, more interesting. |
| 剑体 | Sword Physique | A body that channels blade energy. Comes with a personality type in most books. |
| 雷体 | Thunder Physique | A body that holds lightning. The tribulation at the end of the book is always personal. |
| 雪山冰心 | Snow Heart | A cold-natured spirit body. Resistant to emotional arts and terrible at romance. |
| 道体 | Dao Physique | A body suited to one specific principle. Narrow, and unbeatable inside that narrowness. |
| 混沌体 | Chaos Physique | Suited to everything, which in practice means suited to nothing until the late game. |
| 废体 | Waste Physique | A body that cannot cultivate at all. Every novel about proving the assessments wrong starts here. |
| 体修之路 | The Body Cultivator's Path | Cultivation without spirit roots. Rare, physical, and used to let a character succeed outside the system. |
| 心境资质 | Mental Aptitude | Resistance to pressure and illusion. Low values are how the author gets a character to break at the right moment. |
| 血脉觉醒 | Bloodline Awakening | The event itself. Usually comes with a beast mark and a sudden appetite. |
| 妖兽血脉 | Beast Bloodline | Commoner tier of the same mechanic. Used for characters who fight with teeth. |
| 人兽混血 | Half-Beast Lineage | One human parent, one beast. The genre treats it as a permanent social problem and a combat advantage. |
| 体质 | Constitution | The general term for body type. The category heading every other term on this page belongs to. |
| 资质的差距 | The Talent Gap | Where one character can learn in a day what another takes a decade for. Used to make rivals legitimate. |
| 逆天资质 | Heaven-Defying Talent | Talent so far above the scale that the scale stops applying. Always attached to a character who cannot use it yet. |
This is the single most abused mechanic in the genre, and also the most useful for a translator: it explains motive in one line. The renderings below track the free cultivation novels at cultivationnovel.com.
